Asiad Torch Relay 'opens' Umm Tais

The Umm Tais National Park in Qatar has been opened to public after the Asian Games 2006 Torch Relay passed through this magnificent wildlife repository on Saturday, 25 November.

Located on the northeastern tip of Qatar, Umm Tais was jointly inaugurated by Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee (DAGOC) and the Supreme Council for Environment and Natural Resources (SCENR).

This breathtaking natural reserve is touted to become one of the prime attractions in Doha in near future. Umm Tais will provide environmental and educational advantages to locals and tourists in Qatar.

Featuring two splendid mangrove forests and a turtle nesting beach, this national park comprises myriad forms of avian and marine life. Fascinating landscapes and varying geological structures make a visit to this place one of the important things to do in Doha.

When you travel to Doha for the Asian Games 2006, a visit to this place is highly recommended. Immerse yourself in the bounteousness of nature and you'll be beguiled by the beauty of flora and fauna seen here.
