The countdown to Asian Games 2006, Doha has finally begun. Touted to be the best event in the history of Asian Games, the 15th edition of this quadrennial event is all set to showpiece the best of Asian sporting talent over a period of 15 days.
The preliminary round of Asian Games 2006 kicks off from the 18th of November. The time has come for teams to put in their best efforts and keep their hopes of topping the Asian Games 2006 medal tally alive.

Eight teams - divided into two groups of four - will play each other in a round robin format in Round 1. The winners from each group will move on to Round 2 and join the other 22, pre-qualified teams.

Hence, expectedly, prelims of the Games start off with four football matches, to be held at the Al-Wakra and Al-Ahli Sports Clubs.
