China, the most populated country, is credited with giving the world some of its best athletes. At the ongoing Asian Games 2006 in Doha, China is winning medals left, right and center.
According to the history of Asian Games, China has always been one of the most successful participants. History is all set to repeat itself at the 15th Asian Games.
With the Chinese contingent stronger than ever before, the stage looks ready for China to walk away with the maximum number of prizes in Asian Games 2006. The squad comprises 341 male and 306 female athletes, who'll be competing in different disciplines of as many as 37 sports in Asian Games 2006.
At the last Asian Games in Busan, China won a staggering 150 gold, 84 silver and 74 bronze medals. China has also won the maximum number of gold medals in the entire Asiad history - 819. However, Japan still reins supreme as the country with maximum Asian Games medals overall - 2,188 medals.
The 2008 Olympics are to be hosted by the city of Beijing in China. The medal winning spree at Doha Asian Games seems to be the most ideal preparation for the 'upcoming hosts'.
