Zheng Zhi, the captain of Chinese men's football squad, surprised the Asian football fraternity by making a two-day visit to London, just days before the start of the 15th Asian Games in Doha. The surprising element was the fact that this visit culminated in a training session with English Premiership club Charlton Athletic.
Rumors of Zhi's possible transfer from his current club Shandong Luneng are floating in the air. Although both the clubs have been numb on the issue, the media stresses that this is not the right time to think about transfers, with the Doha Asian Games looming large in every Asian team's schedule.
Zhi has been one of the most influential stars in Chinese football, and his nonchalant attitude with regards to Asian Games 2006, Doha has raised a few eyebrows.
Meanwhile, his fans are confident of his focus and are waiting to see a spectacular performance from their hero of football in Asian Games 2006.
