Iraq defeated Singapore 2-0 to claim the top spot in Group B of the men's football tournament at Asian Games 2006,Doha. Leading the group with six points in tow, Iraq wrecked havoc on their opponents during their preliminary match on 21st November, held at the Al Alhi Sports Club.
Barely six minutes into the match, Iraq scored both their goals, displaying inimitable skills and agility on the field.
Syria is on the second spot in the group rankings, and will contest Iraq on 24th November for their final group game. The leaders, however need a mere draw to move into the next round.
Singapore is the third in this group, with only one point following their draw with Syria. Indonesia, the fourth team in the group has no points whatsoever.
Football is touted to be the most-watched sport in Asian Games 2006. The rising number of spectators watching the prelims bears testimony to this fact.
Not just locals, quite a few oversees fans have already settled down in Doha, and are all set for the action, that begins with the opening ceremony of Asian Games 2006 on 1st December.
