Talent can take you places. Four young kids have justified this adage by winning trips to the Asian Games 2006, Doha.
Residents of India, Malaysia and Hong Kong, these children have won the top spots in art and essay writing competitions held across Asia for the 15th Asian Games.
Out of thousands of participants, two winners from both the categories have got the chance of witnessing the 15th Asian Games live in Doha from 1st to 15th of December, 2006.
These competitions were an initiative by the Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee (DAGOC) to facilitate the global involvement of kids in the Games.
The title of the art competition was 'What sports I would play with Orry', the mascot of Asian Games 2006. Thirteen-year-old So Yik Ka of Hong King was declared the top young painter, while 17-year-old Sayan Chanda from India won in the senior category.
'Sports as a culture and way of life' was the topic for the essay competition. Malaysians Linda Leembruggen and Hong Chuen Yen, aged 14 and 15 years respectively, won the prizes in this contest.
All the entries in the competition will be put on public display at the Youth Creative Center in Doha all through the Asian Games 2006. This will certainly encourage kids and boost participation in such competitions in the future.
