Untiring efforts put in by the Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee (DAGOC) for Asian Games 2006 are gaining appreciation from all and sundry.
Congratulations pouring in from administrators of various sports organizations, the IOC in particular, has boosted the morale of everyone involved with the organization of this quadrennial event.
The Medical and Scientific Director of International Olympic Committee (IOC), Dr. Patrick Schamasch, has sent an official letter to DAGOC, lauding their work. The official visited Doha on Monday, 27 November, barely three days before the opening ceremony of Asian Games 2006.
More than content with the arrangements and facilities, Schamasch said that the DAGOC have 'set the bar very high' for others to match up to. He also extended best wishes for smooth execution of the 15-day extravaganza.
Earlier, Jacques Rogge, the president of IOC, had also talked highly of the DAGOC. He had been fulsome in his praise about the progress made throughout Doha in the run-up to the 15th edition of Asian Games.
The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) has also joined the list of DAGOC 'fans'. In their congratulatory letter, the committee thanked the DAGOC for their spirited hospitality and support.
Quite a few Olympic committees in Asia have sent similar messages to the DAGOC, and many more are expected to follow suit.
Now, it's time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Kudos to DAGOC for turning their dreams into reality… a reality as spectacular as this!
