Cue Sports at the Doha Asian Games include billiards, snooker, pool and carom in various categories.
Cue Sports were basically used for indoor games that were played on a table using a stick or cue. The cue was used to strike the balls around to push them through the pockets in the table.
Billiards, snooker and pool belong to a very similar genre of Cue Sports. However, a billiards table is larger than the others.
The term 'billiards' has been derived from a French word 'billart' that refers to a 'mace'. A mace is more or less like a golf club.
A carom game can be played in singles or doubles. The objective is to pocket the red-colored 'queen'.
Most of the Cue Sports require players with a good aim and a perfect hand-eye coordination.
Cue Sports are some of the most popular sports in the world and thus have been a part of the Asian Games for quite some time.
