A Rugby game witnesses all sorts of pushing, kicking and felling of players vying for a ball. Although these might not be the official rules of Rugby, most of these matches draw huge numbers of spectators for this very reason.
Unlike Football, Rugby is all about passing the ball backwards and not forward. Players need to score a goal or touch the opponent's goal line.
Most of the television images of Rugby games are about almost 'manhandling' of players by opponents. In pursuance of their aim of acquiring possession of the ball, players often land up pinning down opponents to the ground. However, none of this kicking and passing is grave, as Rugby is after all just a game.
The game of Rugby requires speed, agility and physical strength. To dribble past so many opponents is not an easy task.
A usual game of Rugby is played between two teams comprising 15 players each. However, at the 15th Asian Games, Rugby Sevens will be the order of the day. Each team in this event will have only seven players. This makes the competition all the more intriguing and fast-paced.
Rugby was first included in the 13th Asian Games at Bangkok in the year 1998.
