Shooting at the Asian Games requires incredible concentration powers and a more than perfect aim.
A good shooting performance is determined by a shooter's aim at a given target. The closer you hit the target, the more points you are awarded.
At the Asian Games 2006, shooting events will be divided into two basic disciplines - Precision and Shotgun.
Precision Shooting comprises rifle, pistol and running target events. Rings marked on a given target are numbered with scores between 0 and 10. Shooters are given points according to the place of the shot in the scoring rings.
There are different time limits prescribed to different events. For rapid fire shooting, you have to shoot a single shot or a group of five shots in a given time frame. In slow shooting, the entire event in time bound.
As far as the shotgun event of Doha Asian Games Shooting competition is concerned, shooters either break or miss the target. There are no set time limits in this event.
Rifle shooting is the only event that requires the shooter to kneel down while hitting the target.
Shooting became a part of the Asian Games history since the second edition at Manila in 1954.
