A combat sport requiring muscular strength and agility, Wrestling is a worldwide-recognized sport.
The sole aim of a wrestler is to 'fell' the opponent on the ground. The one who first manages to pin down the competitor is awarded winning points. A Wrestling competition consists of two rounds of three minutes each.
Wrestlers cannot resolve to punching, biting or strangulating the opponent. Long nails are also not allowed. In short, there should be no action meant to injure the other wrestler.
Wrestling competitions are of two types - Freestyle and Greco-Roman. The former allows hold over the whole body whereas the latter allows holds only upwards above the waist.
Both men and women wrestlers can compete in a Wrestling competition at the 15th Asian Games. Since the Manila Asian Games in 1954, Wrestling has been a regular feature of the program schedule of the Games.
