You can also enjoy fishing in Sandy Billabong and Jim Jim Billabong and waters west of the Kakadu Highway. There are options of going out for a boating excursion to any of these places like South Alligator River, Jim Jim, Mardugal and Home Billabongs on the Jim Jim Creek system, Djarradjin and Sandy Billabongs and the West Alligator River. Boating in Kakadu can be adventurous, but at times dangerous too due to the presence of crocodiles in the waters. You can also go to the concrete boat ramps located at the East Alligator River, Yellow Water, Mardugal and Jim Jim Billabong. To be on the safer side it is always better to carry life jackets, oars, water, torch and a tool kit. The best time to visit Kakadu is the summer season from May to September, as it gets flooded and swamped during the rains. |

Heritage
The name of the park is also a derivation from the Aboriginal language called Gagudju. Although the language and the descendants of the language groups no longer exist, there are still some other Aboriginal languages like Kunwinjku and Jawoyn still being spoken at the Park. Spread over a vast expanse of land stretching for about 19, 000 square kilometers, the Park is now on the list of World Heritage. Come and spend over a day or two to get the entire feel of the place. The park has the provisions for providing camps as well as stays in hotels and motels.
