In Germany the preparations for Christmas begin from December 6th. As the tradition goes German children leave letters on their windowsills for a mythical figure called Christkind dressed in white and a golden crown. They believe that he distributes gifts.
With eatables, German people make amazing structures such as gingerbread houses etc. Throughout Germany there are several Christmas trees glowing and glittering. People hang up advent wreaths of Holly with four red candles in the center. Just like Denmark, during Christmas in Germany people put advent calendars and children open one window of the calendar daily till the day of Christmas.
In Germany Christkindl is the traditional visitor and she is a beautiful maiden with a bright shining crown of candles in her hands. She visits each house with a basket of presents.
German boys dress up as kings and sing carols while touring the village. December 6 is celebrated as St. Claus day also called Nikolaustag. The advent wreath Adventskranz is a flat table where you can light candles.
