In Puerto Rico, the best Christmas is celebrated in Navidad. Christmas celebrations in Puerto Rico begin in early December go on with the celebration of the birth date of Jesus Christ on December 25 and end in February - with the Octavas, right after Los Reyes, and the Octavitas. On December 24 Nochebuena is celebrated, Navidad on December 25 and the biggest and most important festival for children is el Día de Reyes on January 6th.
An amazing feature of Christmas is a small group of friends called Parranda. They arrive silently t the door of their friends and then suddenly start playing instrument either guitarras or tamboriles. Their main aim is to awake the sleeping friend.
For Puerto Rico people, Christmas is incomplete without cooking a pig on a spit. Other traditional foods of the Puerto Rican people are pasteles, lechón asado, arroz con dulce, tembleque and coquito.
Puerto Rico houses also have Santa Claus figures and Christmas Trees. But they do not celebrate Santa.
