Travour takes you and your family into the festive warmth of the French chateaux with its Unique Christmas Packages in France
Every French home at Christmas time exhibits a Nativity scene or crib , which is the center point of traditional French Christmas celebration . The crib is decorated with little clay figurines called santons or little saints. A rich tradition is attached to these mini figures molded by artisan in the south of France. In December these clay figures are sold at annual Christmas fairs and fetes in Marseille and Aix .
The Christmas tree has never been very popular in France, and though the use of the Yule log has waned, the French bake their traditional Yule log-shaped cake -the buche de Nol , meaning Christmas log. Le rveillon is a late supper held after midnight mass on Christmas Eve as part of festive celebrations and you can witness them as a part of Travour's Unique Christmas Packages in France
In Alsace , goose is the preferred Christmas delicacy; in Burgundy it is turkey with chestnuts and the elite Parisians feast upon oysters and pat de foie gras ; which is an authentic French preparation.
