FIFA unveiled the 2006 World Cup logo on 19 November 2002 at the AufSchalke Arena Stadium in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The World Cup logo depicts three cheerful faces in yellow, blue and green, forming the symbol 006, and inviting the world to a party for the next World Cup. Resembling the Olympic rings, the logo also displays the FIFA World Cup Trophy as its base. The 2006 World Cup Logo is available in different official versions in German and English languages. The English version of the logo carries the name of the tournament as FIFA World Cup Germany 2006, in blue and green colors.
According to Franz Beckenbauer, the president of the World Cup Organizing Committee, the World Cup logo displays "Celebrating Faces of Football, " and aims to convey the message that Germany will be a welcoming and friendly host. | The logo was approved after lots of researches and suggestions from expert agencies and finally, FIFA commissioned London agency Whitestone to produce the logo. The World Cup 2006 slogan is 'Die Welt zu Gast bei Freunden, ' which translates in English as 'Friends invite the world.'
