    Frankfurt is the commercial capital of Germany. The headquarters of European Central Bank is located at Frankfurt and the country's key stock exchange is also located in Frankfurt. Some of Germany's most impressive museums are located in Frankfurt.     The city is divided into a north-south corridor by the Main River. There is a glass lift that takes you to the roof from where you can take in miles of the city's vistas.



    Make it a point to visit Frankfurt's restored cathedral, which is located just adjacent to the Historischer Garten and an elegant 15th century Gothic-style tower stands like a sentinel over the area. One of Frankfurt's oldest square Romerberg with its beautifully restored 14th and 15th century buildings are a sheer delight to visitors. The Stadelsches Kunstinstitut at Schaumainkai 63 is renowned for its rare collection of works by celebrated artists of the stature of Rembrandt, Renoir and Vermeer to name just a few. The Deutsche Film museum is a great place to know more about the German film industry and its archives are very rich in collection. For people with a literary bent of mind, the Goethe Haus is a great place to visit. The house where the renowned philosopher was born in 1749 has now been converted into a museum.


    Frankfurt is a city which is renowned for its many apple-wine taverns particularly in the Alt Sachsenhausen neighborhood. Try out the Ebbelwoi along with local specialities. For dining many good restaurants can be found around the Hauptbahnhof area, the Kalbacher Grasse and the Grosse Bockenheimer Strasse area. You will find lots of Pubs and bars in Frankfurt particularly in the Sachsenhausen area . The city is renowned for its excellent theatre, ballet and opera scene and one should make it a point to experience the cultural side of Frankfurt. Frankfurt is a paradise for shoppers and you would do well to visit the main shopping street, Zeil. Some of Germany's most fashionable boutiques are located just off Fressgasse.
