    2006 Soccer World Cup Schedule

    The FIFA 2006 World Cup schedule was announced by the FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee at its meeting on December 03, 2003 in Frankfurt, Germany. At the meeting, the Committee proposed and approved the match schedule and venues for the 18 th FIFA World Cup finals in Germany. According to the approved schedule, the 2006 World Cup matches would be held from 09 June 2006 to 09 July 2006 in 12 world-class venues in Germany.

    It was also decided that the opening match of FIFA World Cup 2006 would be held in Munich, while Berlin will host the final of the tournament. The two semi-finals are schedule to be held in Dortmund and Munich, with the 3 rd place play-off contested in Stuttgart.

    According to the FIFA 2006 World Cup schedule, m atches will be played in 12 world-class stadiums in twelve different cities of Germany, evenly distributed across the entire country. All of 12 venues will host 4 group matches each featuring eight different teams, and in the group stage no team will play in the same stadium twice. Also, 8 of World Cup venues will play one second rounds match. In addition, each venue will see two seeded (highest ranked in the FIFA Rankings and the host) teams competing for a berth in the second-round matches. According to 2006 World Cup schedule, Group-Stage Matches will be played between 09 June 2006 to 23 June 2006, while Second-Round Matches will be held from 24 June 2006 to 27 June 2006. The World Cup Quarter-Finals are scheduled for June 30 and July 01, and two Semi-Finals will be played on July 4 th and 5 th . The 2006 World Cup Final will be held at Berlin Stadium, Berlin on Sunday July 09, 2006. Below is a detailed match schedule of FIFA 2006 World Cup in Germany.
