Debrecen International Airport second only to the Budapest International Airport in terms of passenger volume. The airport is located near the city of Debreken.
The Debrecen International Airport started its operations in 1930 with cargo and mail carrier flights. During the Second World War, the airport was used as a military airfield. After the Second World War, the Soviet Union wrested control of the airport and managed it till 1990.
