The Air India Airlines was established in 1929 by the late JRD Tata, one of the greatest industrialists of India. The airlines operated its first flight from Karachi to Mumbai in 1932, which was piloted by Tata himself. IN 1933, Air India Airlines operated its first passenger flight, with 155 people on board. The company acquired its first Boeing in 1960. Air India Airlines entered the Guinness Book of Records for airlifting over 100, 000 stranded Indians from Kuwait during the Gulf War, and it was the largest evacuation of civilians by an airlines.
