Visit the 11th century Basilica Saint Sernin, the largest Romanesque Church in Southern France; the impressive pink stone Place du Capitole, the hub of activity in the heart of Toulouse; and the Gothic Cathedral of Saint-Etienne, begun during the 11th century AD. Between the Place du Capitole and the Garrone River is the Eglise des Jacobins, the first Dominican monastery with a single row of 60-foot high columns running down the center of the church. The 13th century University of Toulouse is another must see attractions in Toulouse.
No tour to Toulouse is complete without a visit to Cité de l'Espace, which displays French and Russian achievements in space science. The Space Museum has on display a 55-meter high model rocket, a model of the MIR space station, and a variety of interactive exhibitions exploring the space exploration theme.
