The 9th ICC Cricket World Cup in West Indies would jointly hosted by nine participating Caribbean countries (including St Vincent and Grenadines that will host only warm-up matches). The tournament is believed to be the greatest edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup, the world has ever seen. Cricket fans across the world are eagerly waiting for the kick-off of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, scheduled for March 13, 2007 in Jamaica. The tournament will commence with a grand opening ceremony in a newly built stadium in Trelawny, Jamaica. Prior to this, a total of 16 warm-up matches will be played at venues in Jamaica, St Vincent, Trinidad and Barbados.
The national cricket teams of 16 participating countries from five continents will play a total of 67 matches (including 16 warm-up matches) in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in West Indies. The 16 participating teams will be divided into four groups with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Second-Stage Super 8 round. Again the top four teams in the Super 8 round, based on points, will then advance to the semi-finals with the two semi-finalist competing for the cup in the finals.
