The Cricket World Cup Schedule to be held in West
Indies was announced on July 19, 2005 in the Republic of Trinidad
and Tobago. The opening ceremony of the 9th ICC World Cup
has been scheduled on March 11, 2007 at Trelawny Stadium in
Jamaica. According to the world cup schedule, the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 will be played on March 13, 2007 at
Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, between the host West Indies
and Pakistan. There are a total of 16 teams participating
in this largest edition of Cricket World Cup, divided into
4 groups (A, B, C, and D).
The ICC World Cup tournament will see a total of 51 ODI matches played
over a 47-day period, in 11 world-class stadia at 9 host venues
in the beautiful Caribbean islands. The Group Stage Matches will be
held during March 13-25, 2007, at St. Kitts & Nevis (Group
A), Trinidad & Tobago (Group B), St. Lucia (Group C),
and Jamaica (Group D). The winners and runners-up from each
group will advance to the Second Stage Super 8, where eight
teams will contest for a berth in semi-finals. Super 8 Round
Match Schedule has been fixed during March 27-April 21 at
various venues in Antigua, Guyana, Grenada and Barbados. The
Semi-finals Match Schedule is fixed for April 24 and April
25 in Jamaica and Saint Lucia. The two semi-finalists will
meet at Kensington Oval in Barbados on April 28 for the final
of the 9th ICC Cricket World Cup.
