A total of 16 countries will comprise Cricket World Cup teams' list for the ninth edition of this quadrennial event. Coming from five different continents, these World Cup teams will vie for the prestigious ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy in the West Indies.
The 16 World Cup teams comprise 11 teams with One-day International (ODI) status, and five
teams that have qualified via the 2005 ICC Trophy. All 16 Cricket World Cup teams are
divided into four groups - Group A , Group B, Group C, and Group
D. Each group has four teams consisiting of two high ranking
teams and two low-ranking teams, with atleast one of the five
ICC qualifiers.
The ninth ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in West Indies would be
largest edition of this world championship. The Bermudan cricket team
is the only new entrant in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. The other minnows, Canada, Scotland, Ireland and the Nertherlands, have participated in
previous tournaments. |
