Debutants of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in West Indies, Bermuda have been playing cricket for two years now. However, they have never competed against a world-class team and stand virtually no chance in this tournament either.
The Bermuda World Cup squad is the same as the one that participated in ICC World Cricket League competitions. There is just one change in this squad – all-rounder Oliver Pitcher has been given a berth in place of Arthur Pitcher Jr.
Most of the names in Bermuda’s World Cup team are of cricketers who have been in the national playing XI ever since the country stepped into international cricket. With virtually no experience or victory backing them, Bermuda will have a tough time against other underdogs like Canada, Scotland and The Netherlands, who have had some sort of international exposure.
Irvine Romaine is the captain of Bermudian World Cup squad. A good batsman and occasional off-break bowler, he is the backbone of this highly inexperienced side. With a deputy in the form of wicketkeeper-batsman Dean Minors, Romaine looks to lead with example.
In Bermuda’s World Cup squad, the duty of batting the team out of trouble lies on players like David Hemp, Lionel Cann, Steven Outerbridge, etc. Bowlers Delyone Borden, Stefan Kelly, Dwayne Leverock, etc will be handling the bowling department of Bermuda’s World Cup squad.
Bermuda’s World Cup squad comprises some good all-rounders in the form of Malachi Jones, Kevin Hurdle, Janeiro Tucker and Oliver Pitcher. These players have the capability of making a name for themselves in a big international tournament like the World Cup.
The 15-man Bermuda World Cup Squad is as follows: |
Irving Romaine (C)
Dean Minors (VC)
Delyone Borden
Lionel Cann
David Hemp
Kevin Hurdle
Malachi Jones
Stefan Kelly
Dwayne Leverock
