Team Kenya have been the reason behind many upsets in World Cups – top teams have found it difficult to overpower their might. In World Cup 2007, Kenya will be keen to take a step further into stardom by ‘traumatizing’ a few other international teams. And, this will be possible only if the key players in Kenyan team fire all cylinders.
Steve Tikolo, captain of the Kenyan World Cup 2007 squad is amongst the oldest players in the team. Having made in his debut in the year 1996, Tikolo has played more than 90 one-day internationals and has been a fantastic all-rounder for his side. In the ninth edition of Cricket World Cup, he will definitely be one of the key players in the Kenyan team.
Vice-captain Thomas Odoyo has represented Kenya since the age of 17. He started off at the 1996 World Cup and since then this all-rounder has been a key player in the Kenyan team. His power-packed batting in the middle order, and medium pace bowling have taken Kenya to the verge of glory many a time.
The Kenyan batting order looks incomplete without star opener Ravindu Shah. An important player in the Kenyan team, Shah had a great run in the 2003 World Cup, and is termed as a classy player. He has not been in commendable form in the recent past, and thus will be looking forward to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in West Indies to get back amongst runs.
Collins Obuya, the renowned leg-spinner from Kenya has been an important source of motivation for the team. His batting skills have also helped in bailing Kenya out of troublesome situations. And overall, his superb fielding has set high standards for others to follow. Evidently, this all-rounder will be one of the key players for Kenyan team in World Cup 2007.
