Netherlands’ squad for World Cricket League in Kenya has been retained for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in West Indies. Having participated in the 1996 and 2003 editions of this quadrennial event, Netherlands are scouting for bigger success this time around.
The Netherlands World Cup squad is well balanced with an almost equal share of batsmen and bowlers thrown in. Pitted against Australia, South Africa and Scotland, this team does not have too many chances of getting into the Super Eight stage of the World Championship. However, they are expected to give fellow qualifiers Scotland a run for their money.
The Netherlands squad for World Cup will be headed by Luuk van Troost, an aggressive and credible batsman, who has played in 21 one-day internationals. One of the key players in Netherlands team, Troost can be quite destructive when he gets going.
Daan van Bunge, at 24 years of age, is the youngest member of Netherlands World Cup squad. His all-round talent will stand him in good stead during an international event of such magnitude.
Bas Zuiderent is one of the main batsmen in Dutch cricket. In spite of his not-so-great record, he is persisted with in the Netherlands World Cup squad mainly because of his fielding strength.
All these players are expected to motivate the other newcomers in the Netherlands World Cup team, so as to extract good performances from them .
