Kiwis crush feeble Bangladesh
A blazing hundred by New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming's set the pace of Black Caps' second win in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super Eights.
Batting first Bangladesh managed to score just 174. All the Bangladeshi top order batsmen scored over 20 runs but no one was able to convert these valuable runs into a big score. The Bangladeshi team opened cautiously but their opening partnership was broken in 17th at the score of 55. Few overs later Oram was stumped by Brendon McCullum and the Bangladesh team was faltering at the score of 62 for two.
Aftab Ahmed and Hasan tried to rebuild the inning with a third-wicket partnership of 43 but their partnership ended when former was out at score of 27 off Styris ball. Tailender Mohammad Rafique showed some metal as he struck two sixes to score unbeaten 30 and to put on 34 runs for the tenth wicket stand with Rasel.
Fine bowling by Black caps bundled the opponents at a low score. Scott Styris took with four for 43. Man of the match Shane Bond took two crucial wickets of Saqibul and Mushfiqur who were stumped when they tried to play Bond’s full deliveries.
Chasing a meager total of 175 the Kiwis managed to increase two points to their account. New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming's played a stunning inning of 102 runs in 90-balls included three sixes and 10 fours.
The skipper shared a 134-run unbroken second wicket stand with Hamish Marshall. Hamish Marshall too remained unbeaten at 50 runs. His 54-ball innings included one six and two fours. Peter Fulton was the only batsman to be out at the score of 15runs off Rasel’s ball.
With this comprehensive nine wicket win Kiwis have moved a step closer to reach the of ICC Cricket World Cup semi-finals.
