One of the strongest contenders of 2007 Cricket World Cup, India set up the tone for future fireworks, blazing off to a 182-run victory over The Netherlands in a warm-up match at Trelawny Stadium, Jamaica. This match has given the Men in Blue some meaningful practice and has helped them in getting acclimatized to the conditions in West Indies.
Batting first, India piled up 300 runs, with the biggest contributions coming from skipper Rahul Dravid (74 in 92 balls) and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar (61 runs in 59 balls). Despite a solid start by Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag, India looked fragile at one point in their innings. However, Dravid the 'Wall' steadied the ship with his resilience.
The Netherlanders knew that the target of 300 was almost unachievable and they were eventually bowled out for 118 runs. Their standout performer was Ten Doeschate (31 runs and 5/57). Of all bowlers in the India vs. Netherlands warm-up match, Yuvraj Singh impressed the most with his spell of four for 12.
