The 9th ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in the West Indies will
be the largest edition of the Cricket World Cup, with a total
of 16 teams competing in the tournament. All 16 participating
teams have been divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, and D), each
group with four teams. In addition, each group comprises of
two high-ranking teams, one bottom ranking team and one of
the 5 qualifiers. Other important thing to notice here is
that each group will play all its matches at a single ground.
The first stage group matches would be held during March
13-25, 2007 at St. Kitts & Nevis (Group A), Trinidad &
Tobago (Group B), St. Lucia (Group C), and Jamaica (Group
D). A total of 51 One-Day International (ODI) matches will
be played over a 47-day period. All teams in 4 groups are
listed below with match venues and their LG ICC ODI rankings
(till July 15, 2006) shown in brackets.
