How can one forget mentioning the splendid New Year's Eve at Times Square, while talking about New Year in New York? Dating back to 1906, the famous ball drop atop One Times Square is practiced till date as a tradition on the New Year's Eve in London. When the countdown for the last minute of the old year begins, the ball is dropped slowly and the moment it reaches the bottom, the New Year sign is displayed and everybody starts saying the three awaited words "Happy New Year".
Partying and feasting hard is all part and parcel of the New Year in New York. Another great things about the New Year in New York is the spectacular fireworks at the Prospect Park and last but not the least the famous Central Park midnight marathon. Participated by thousands, the marathon has it all from music to fireworks and champagne.
