Although decorating the New Year tree was initially not a part of the American New Year customs, it is observed today as an important New Year custom in America.

The Dutch believe that eating doughnuts on New Year would bring good fortune. It is a New Year custom across the world to consume cabbage and black-eyed peas, as they bring good luck. Although New Year is celebrated world-wide on the same day, every country has got its own customs and traditions to be followed on New Year.
