Kenya Travel Tips

With a host of attractions to lure tourists, Kenya is one of the most interesting tourist destinations you can ever visit today. It is an exciting mix of geographical and cultural diversities that simply enchant every visitor. However, we at Travour would like to forward a few Kenya travel tips that could help you plan out your itinerary and make your vacation an affair to remember.

Visa / ETA: Visa requirements for travel to Kenya vary from country to country. Therefore it is advised that you gather adequate information about the rules before planning your trip.

Prohibited Items: Kenya does not allow import of seeds, fruits, plants, children's toys and fake firearms. Besides, items like gold, diamonds and animal skins not obtained from government-authorized sources cannot be taken out of the country.

What to Wear: Long sleeved shirts, convertible slacks, hats and sunglasses are ideal for those exploring Kenya. It is advisable to stick to tans and dark greens while venturing out on wildlife safaris. However, camouflage clothes are only meant for the Kenya military.

Packing List: Some of the most essential items include flashlights, sunscreen lotions, wet tissues, adapters / converters, malaria tablets (prior consultation with doctor advised), extra batteries, walking shoes, binoculars, basic medical kits and insect repellants.

Money: There are currency exchange counters at the airport, however, it is better to go to a central / local bank.

Baggage Allowance: You should try to travel as light as possible. The baggage limit for domestic flights is a single piece of luggage weighing not more than 33 lbs per person. The ideal size of the bag would be 24" x 17" x 7." Besides, a carry on bag is also allowed on all the domestic flights. However, you should not forget to check the baggage limit offered by the international carriers.

International Travel: The major airports of Kenya are Jomo Kenyatta International in Nairobi and Moi International in Mombassa. Kenya Airways (KQ) is the national airline of this African country.
