Naturism
Croatia was the first European country to open its doors to naturists several decades ago and today it is a rage all over the world. Naturism began in 1936 on the island of Rab by guests Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson. Down the years it has been nurtured and that has ensured that regular guests.
Along the entire Adriatic coast, from Savudrija to Dubrovnik, naturists can achieve the fine balance between man and nature through sports and healthy food. Enjoy the benefits of sun, water and air, life in nature and with nature. Top it up with healthy tastes and smells of the Mediterranean. There are many natural naturist beaches, beaches that are not officially recognized as such but are well known and it has been verified that the local people know and accept naturist rules. These naturist centres also protect the environment and some naturist destinations such as "Valalta" Rovinj, "Koversada" Vrsar, "Ulika" Cervar Porat are adorned with the prestigious international symbol of a protected environment - the "Blue Flag".
Naturist centres accept all guests with the International Naturist Federation (INF) member's card and all families that follow naturist rules. |
Nautical Tourism
Croatia, the land of a thousand islands and indented coastline is a haven for boaters. Croatia is home to 50 marinas; all gathered together under the Croatian Marinas Group, with a capacity of over 13, 200 sea berths and 4, 500 dry berths. Many nautical tourism ports have further enriched their services: from top quality traditional cuisine, water and electricity, health care clinics, charter company services, to the use of apartments, and electronic monitoring and security services to protect the property and equipment of guests.
In order to rent a vessel, guests must possess a valid recreational craft license, and must also have a radio certificate (can be obtained in all Port Authorities). Upon renting the vessel, it is necessary to fill out and certify the crew list. All changes to the crew while sailing must be reported to the Port Authority.
Fishing
Before you dip that fishing rod into the water body near you please remember: You have to obtain a license. You can get it by presenting a proof of identity (passport, driver's license etc.) Licenses, issued for issued for recreational angling, underwater spear-gun fishing, hand trolling, long lining and tuna fishing, can be got from offices in all towns along the coast. The whole Adriatic Sea is open for fishing and special limitations are applied in aquatoria of national parks (Kornati, Brijuni, Krka, Mljet), and for some smaller locations. Speleology
Discover the hundreds of caves and holes in Karstic area of Croatia. Some of the more attractive caves, for instance those in Istria, Gorski kotar, on the mountains of Medvednica (rising above Zagreb), Papuk, in the regions of Kordun, Lika, Dalmatia and Zagora - are open to visitors with no experience in speleology. These caves have stalagmites and stalactites, curtains and other fascinating features.
Many underground spaces are protected as geomorphologic monuments, such as Modra špilja [Blue Cave] on the island of Biševo; Cerovecke špilje [Cerovac Caves] near Gracac; Manita pec [Furious Furnace]; Veternica, near Zagreb and many others. Also protected are all denizens of the underground world, relics and endemic species - bugs, shells, sponges, olm (or proteus), a cave leech discovered in Luka's Hole on Velebit. Among a number of interesting features on the island of Brac are Zmajeva špilja and the cave altars close to the Blaca desert. The caves have lighting, pathways to ensure safe passage. Guides are responsible for protecting the caves. |

Speleo-diving is slowly gaining in popularity. Many speleological sites reveal their most interesting features and links with other underground channels and only diving can reveal these to you.
