Among most important rivers, which form the backbone of France's water system, include the Loire (1,010 km), the Seine (770 km), the Garonne (650 km) and the Rhone (522 km). The Loire is the longest river in France, while the Rhine forms the border between France and Germany for a distance of 190 km. The Rhone flows just for 522 km inside the French territory. Other major rivers in France are the Dordogne, the Rhine, the Somme, the Saone, and the Marne.
