The Grand Canal in Venice is over 2 miles long in "S" shape and features three bridges- the Ponte dei Scalzi, the Ponte dell'Accademia and the famous Rialto Bridge. It starts from the lagoon at the train station and ends by the Canal of San Marco at the San Marco. The widest point of the Canal Grande is at the Piazza San Marco end that is roughly 350 feet in width, while its normal width is about half that. Its banks are lined with most spectacular buildings of the city, including splendid palaces, palazzo, churches and warehouses. Amongst the most popular Venice attractions along the Canal Grande include the San Marco Piazza, Santa Maria della Salute, Natural History Museum, International Gallery of Modern Art, and several palazzos and churches such as the Ca' Rezzonico, Ca d'Oro, Ca' Foscari, Palazzo Barbarigo and the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni.
