Major skiing areas in Italy spreads from the French border in the west, to the breathtaking Dolomites in the east. Major skiing areas in Italy can be found in the Piedmont region to the west of Turin with world-class ski resorts of Saux d'Oulx, Sestriere, Bardonechia and several others that will feature prominently in the 2006 Winter Olympics. Further north, the scenic Aosta Valley has amazing ski resorts, including Cervinia, Courmayeur and La Thuile, easily accessible from Chamonix in France via the Mont Blanc tunnel, or from Switzerland via the St Bernard tunnel. Further east, there are Italy's prime ski resorts in the stunning Dolomites, including Cortina d'Ampezzo, Madonna di Campiglio, Selva, and the famous Alta Pusteria.
