Getting to Milan


Milan, the fashion capital of Italy, is a major business and tourist destination in Italy, and so getting to Milan is not a problem at all. Most convenient way to reach Milan is by air, as several international airlines operate direct or connecting flights to the city from cities across the world. Milan also has state-of-the-art rail and road networks, connecting it to all major cities across Italy and Europe.

Getting to Milan by Air: Milan has two major airports - Malpensa International Airport and Milan Linate Airport. Malpensa is the one of biggest airports in Italy, handling transcontinental and other international flights. Almost all major international airlines, including Alitalia, Air France, British Airways, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines and Lufthansa operate direct or connecting flights to Milan. Malpensa is around 50 km from the city, while Milan Linate is just 7 km east of the city center, both having excellent rail and road connection with Milan.

 

Getting to Milan by Rail: Milan has excellent rail network, connecting it to all major cities in Italy and Europe. The city has over 10 rail stations, with Stazione Centrale being the main station in Milan. The city enjoys high-speed rail links to all major cities in Italy including Rome, Bologna, Turin, Florence, Genoa and Venice. The EuroCity train services link Milan to all major capitals and tourist destinations across Europe.

Getting to Milan by Road: Milan enjoys superb road networks, connecting it to all major cities of Italy and Europe. The A1 motorway connects Milan to Rome, Bologna, Florence and Naples, while the A4 motorway connects it to Turin, Verona and Venice among several other important Italian cities. A7 connects Milan to Genoa, A8 to Varese and Lake Maggiore, while A9 takes you to Switzerland and Como. Eurolines operate international coach services from Milan to major European cities, including Paris, Nice, Istanbul, Warsaw, Prague and Vienna.
