Getting to Siena


Siena is a beautiful and charming medieval city, located in the heart of enchanting Tuscany region of Italy. Being a popular tourist destination in Italy, the city is frequented by thousands of tourists every year from cities across the world, and getting to Siena is certainly not a problem. For international travelers, the best way to reach Siena is to take a flight to Rome or Pisa, and then take a car or bus to the city. Siena is well connected by bus services to Florence, Pisa, Rome and Milan. If you're traveling by train, you'll need to get off at nearby stations of Chiusi or Empoli, as Siena has no direct rail links with major cities of Italy.

 

Getting to Siena by Air: The Galileo Galilei Airport Pisa (110 km) is the major airport near Siena, connecting it to all major cities of Italy and Europe. Almost all major international airlines, including Alitalia, Air France, British Airways, Meridiana and Lufthansa operate direct or connecting flights to Pisa from cities across the Europe. Alitalia, the national airlines of Italy, connects Pisa to all the major Italian cities including Milan and Rome.

Getting to Siena by Train: Siena has no direct rail links with major cities of Italy. If you're planning to travel by train to Siena, then you'll need to get off at nearby stations of Chiusi (from Rome). From Chiusi you can either take a local train to Siena or a board a bus to reach your destination. There are also several local trains, connecting Siena to Florence, which is well connected by rail to Milan, Rome, Naples, Venice, Pisa in Italy, and Paris, Basel, Munich and Brussels in Europe.

Getting to Siena by Road: Siena is well connected by road to Florence (65 km), Pisa (110 km), Arezzo (65 km), Milan and Rome. There are excellent bus services from Siena to all these destinations. Euroline buses connect Siena with London, Paris, Munich and Frankfurt.
