Getting to Turin

Turin is a major industrial city as well as famous tourist destination in Italy, known for its stunning alpine scenery and fascinating baroque architecture and museums. Turin is located in the northwest of Italy, 75 miles west of Milan and about 390 miles northwest of Rome. Getting to Turin is certainly not a problem, as the city is well connected by flights, train and coach services to major cities across Italy and Europe. Turin will host the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, which promises to attract thousands of tourists from worldwide destinations.

 

Getting to Turin by Air: Turin International Airport is located just 16 km from the city center in northern Turin. Almost all major airlines operate direct or connecting flights to Turin from destinations across Europe and the United States. Among major airlines operating to Turin Airport include the Air France, Alitalia, British Airways, KLM Royal Dutch, Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines and Lufthansa. Ryanair and Easyjet offer cheap flights to Turin from London.

Getting to Turin by Train: Turin is a major rail hub for national and international trains in Italy. The main railway stations in Turin are Porta Nuova and Porta Susa. Porta Nuova station handles international and regional high-speed trains, connecting Turin to Milan, Venice, Naples, Genoa, Pisa and Rome in Italy, and Paris and Barcelona in Europe.


Getting to Turin by Road: Turin is well connected by road to major cities in Italy and Europe. The A6 motorway connects Turin to Nice (France), while the A4 goes to Milan and Venice. Euroline coaches connect the city to several cities across Europe, including Barcelona (Spain), Briançon (France), Lyons (France), Nice (France), London (Britain), Madrid (Spain), Montegenèvre (France), and Geneva and Lausanne in Switzerland.
