Raffles Hotel Singapore was founded by the four Armenian brothers - Martin, Tigran, Aviet and Arshak Sarkies. Named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore, the hotel was opened in the colonial bungalow-the Beach House. Declared as the National Monument in 1987, the hotel was re-opened in 1991 after renovation and restoration.
