New Year in Spain | Sightseeing in Spain | Weddings in Spain | Flights to Spain

The Spanish Culture traces its origin in Iberian and Latin culture. Till recent century Spain remained hidden from the rest of the world. The Spanish towns had inns where one could even ride in with a mule or a donkey. To the world Spain was a country romantically backward. However, since 1975, Spain became industrialized and modern in today's sense.

Mainly popular for Flamenco music and dance, bullfights and sun kissed beaches, Spain offers many things. For thousand of years it has been chief cultural centre of Europe. The change in Spanish life is evident in each aspect from dressing style to food and housing. Earlier, some regions in Spain had distinct regional dress. Today, there has been a drastic change in the dressing style of Spanish people.

Bull Fights in Spain

Bull fighting is a popular Spanish custom. The sport is at times highly controversial. In the Middle Ages aristocracy reared on horse back. In the eighteenth century, this tradition was abandoned and the result was the invention of bullfighting on foot involving poor people. Francisco Romero laid the rules for the sport.

Food in Spain

Jamon Serrano is a typical Spanish food found in every corner of the country. It is a country ham enjoyed in Spain on all occasions.

Flamenco

Flamenco is an art from of Spain found in the Southern part of the country. The art exists in three forms: el baile (the song), el cante (the dance) and la guitarra (the guitar playing). It is believed that Gypsies invented Flamenco. The popular songs and dances of Andalusia also influence this art form. Cante jondo is the most intense form and expresses deep feelings.

Artistic Heritage
