Trying to plan a vacation to the United States can be overwhelming. With so many destinations and a wide variety of things to do, planning tours to the USA provides an almost unlimited number of possibilities.
1. New York
As a world financial center, the Big Apple brings in plenty of travelers who are only visiting on business, but there is a multitude of activities for someone traveling for pleasure. Times Square features a host of Broadway shows and you’ll find plenty of places to shop on Madison Avenue, yet one of the most underrated activities is a view from the observation deck of the Empire State Building. The steel giants that rise from the streets are amazing when seen from above.
2. Las Vegas
No longer just a place for cheap all-you-can eat buffets and round-the-clock gambling, Sin City has developed a reputation for much more. The massive casinos and amazing hotels have shifted the emphasis has switched to fine dining, excellent shows and attractive exhibits. Catch the dancing fountains at The Bellagio before taking in a performance of the Beatles-inspired “Love” by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage.
3. San Francisco
If you’re looking for a unique cultural experience, the melting pot and scenic beauty of the City by the Bay is an excellent choice. With the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, you can relax on the Presidio or visit the shops and restaurants on Fisherman’s Wharf. After a leisurely stroll, head a few blocks to the south on the hilly streets through the diverse architecture and settle down for some authentic cuisine in Chinatown.
4. Miami
Looking for a little bit of Latin flamboyance on your vacation? Then you’ll love this playful oceanfront city. There are dozens of great museums and performing arts centers, as well as a tremendous local music scene. Of course, the stylish art deco hotels and shops of South Beach invite many to stroll along in abundant sunshine before pulling up a chair at a Cuban restaurant for dinner. And, if you’re in the mood to “shake your groove thang,” it’s easy to find a pulsing nightclub to do some dancing.
5. Chicago
As a major airline hub, you can find less expensive flights here and spring for posh accommodations or tremendous shopping in the Windy City. With an abundance of fine dining and designer stores along the Magnificent Mile, it’s easy to get lost in the opulence downtown. Spend some time walking along Lake Michigan before visiting the Field Museum, a world-class collection of exhibits covering subjects from anthropology to zoology.
6. San Diego
Widely regarded as having some of the best weather in the country, you’ll love all the outdoor activities in this Southern California city near the border with Mexico. The beaches are fantastic, but the zoo is among the best in the world and regularly attracts tourists from all over the world. If you’d like an up-
close-and-personal encounter, reserve a seat on one of the many whale-watching tours organized by local boating companies.
7. Philadelphia
If you want to see the cradle of America, then you must stop in the City of Brotherly Love. Some of the USA’s finest museums are contained within this former colonial capital. Be sure to visit Independence Hall to see where the Founding Fathers debated separation from Britain and pay a visit to Geno’s to dine on the famous cheesesteak sandwich.
8. Orlando
With attractions ranging from SeaWorld to Walt Disney World, this family-friendly destination is consistently near the top of cities visited in the US. There is an amazing range of attractions for kids and adults to enjoy, such as the movie-themed Universal Studios. Plus, if you’d like to spend some time catching rays on the Florida sand, you’re only an hour from the water in Cocoa Beach.
