Chicago Tourist Attractions



Chicago is one of the most attractive American cities. Here, you can take a guided walking, boat, bus or cruise tour to explore its architectural magnificence. Or simply, head over to Willis Tower, previously known as Sears Tower, to enjoy city’s bird eye view from the Skydeck Chicago’s 103rd floor. There are many tourist attractions in Chicago. But, 29 miles long lake facing path, Lincoln Park Zoo, Garfield Park Conservatory, Chicago Cultural Center and Navy Pier are just to name a few of them.



Magnificent Mile

Located in Michigan Avenue, this is a major shopping hub in Chicago. It is filled with countless shops, gift shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes. Plenty of big shopping malls such as the Water Tower Place and the Place Mall are found here.



The Art Institute of Chicago

It is one of the largest Fine Art museums in the state. This museum is well known for its collection of American paintings. A great variety of art exhibits like Egyptian jewelry, Chinese pottery, swords and armors are housed here. You can see some contemporary furniture and paintings by Georgia O’Keefe too.



Hancock Observatory

On the northern part of Chicago in the John Hancock Center, the Hancock Observatory is located. This Chicago attraction is talked about for its alfresco sidewalks and talking telescopes. From here, you can soak up the pleasant views of the stars, attractions in buildings in Chicago. The observatory is on the 94th floor, elevated about 1,000 feet from the ground.



Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum

Among the finest tourist attractions in Chicago, Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum is one. You can see several displays here. Solar system, star constellation, the universe and space travel are just to name a few. Further, StarRider Theater and gift shop are the other highlights of this site.

McCormick Place

Chicago sightseeing trip will be incomplete without a visit to McCormick Place. It is one of the best conventions centers in city and the whole world. McCormick Place received its name from the McCormick family. This place is most popular for its auto show, food conventions, sports events and restaurant and motel shows among others.



Harold Washington Library

Having received its name from Mayor Harold Washington, the Harold Washington Library is counted among the world’s largest libraries. It was constructed in 1987 and houses more than 12 million books, archives, manuscripts and archives. There is an elegant rooftop garden also.



Auditorium Theater

Constructed more than 100 years back, this theatre in city’s South Loop area is best recognized for its musical shows. You can take a guided tour of this attraction to explore its amazing interiors.



Chicago Botanic Garden

Filled with two million plants, the botanic gardens is one of the unique tourist attractions in Chicago. There are about 23 gardens featuring exclusive habitat areas like prairie, woodland and river. You will get an option to choose from seven theme based tours here. Rose Garden, English Walled Garden, Japanese Garden, Fruit and Vegetable Garden, The Greenhouses, Landscape Gardens and Seasonal Festivals are just to name a few.
