Culture of Argentina

The invaders that have invaded and ruled the country through ages have always affected the culture of Argentina. Due to the invasions by various countries, the original Pre-Columbian culture gradually eloped and the original culture of the country got lost somewhere.

The culture of Argentina is a lot affected by European culture, as it remained a colony of various nations in Europe for a very long time. More than one third population of Argentina lives in Buenos Aires that is the capital and is largely European. Quechua and Mapuche in Patagonia inhabit the small percentage of Argentinean population that has retained its original Pre-Columbian culture. Strong Jewish and Anglo-Argentinean communities also prevail throughout the country while small communities of Japanese, Chileans, Bolivians, Paraguayan and Uruguayan reside in various parts of the country.

People from different countries cover various occupations and sectors in Argentina. The Basque and Irish control the sheep rearing, the Germans and Italians established farms and the British invested for developing the infrastructure.

The main language in Argentina is Spanish but several other languages are also used by various groups of different origins.
