The San Marcos Cathedral was designed by Alexandre Gustav Eiffel. The Cathedral stands on the Plaza Colon in the city of Arica. The present building is a replica of the original that was destroyed in 1888 in an earthquake.
The white and pink façade of the building is a landmark in the small town of Arica. The church is a specimen of the lovely historic architecture of Chile.
The interiors of the San Marcos Cathedral are awe-inspiring. A vault and a nave are built inside in typically Gothic style.
