Kauai is one of the oldest islands in Hawaii. This region is also known as the "garden isle". It is positioned 105 miles across Kauai channel. This is located at the north western part of Oahu. The highest peak in the region is Kawaikini followed by Mount Waialeale.
It was in 1810 that Kauai became a part of Hawaii. During the rule of the king Kamehameha in Hawaii it was only the islands of Ni'ihau and Kauai that had not joined his kingdom. The ruler of Kauai, Kaumualii resisted the former for a long time but to no avail. He joined the kingdom of Hawaii in 1810.
Kauai is a very well known land and has featured in many Hollywood movies and shows. Some of the films are: Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Six Days Seven Nights, King Kong, Donovan's Reefland, and Blue Hawaii. One of the most popular sites for films is the coco palms resort. Many films have been shot here.
