Police Sikh Temple, Kuala Lumpur was built by the Sikhs who came to Malaysia during the Colonial period and joined the police force. Since a Sikh Gurdwara or the place of worship can be housed in any kind of house, therefore no efforts have been made to specially decorate the temple.
Outside the temple there is a flagpole sporting a triangular shaped flag with the Sikh emblem inscribed on it. The emblem comprises of a calligraphic symbol created from two Punjabi letters that conveys the message that "God is the eternal reality". The entrance gate and the summit of the roof the temple boasts of the Sikh symbol of double-edged sword that is surrounded by a wheel. The sword is symptomatic of God's truth and justice whereas the wheel is indicative of the unity of the God. Next to the wheel are two daggers symbolizing temporal, secular and spiritual power. The entrance gate of the temple also features a dais where the holy Guru Granth Sahib is kept. .This book is the holy book of the Sikhs and it is highly honored and it is covered with a romalla, a kind of silk cloth, when not in use.
