Rice Museum, Langkawi

Rice Museum, Langkawi is one of the many attractions of Langkawi. Rice cultivation is one of the oldest industries in Malaysia and subsequently in Langkawi. Here you can learn and educate yourself about rice or padi cultivation.

At the museum you can see all the equipments and methods used and practiced in rice cultivation. There are also charts, photographs and artifacts in museum that will further enhance your knowledge of rice cultivation. The museum will also give you information on rice-based delicacies and side activities of the villagers, such as kite flying and fishing. The museum evokes the atmosphere of the village with, scarecrows, chickens, ducks and buffaloes roaming freely in the premises of the museum.

The Rice Museum also boasts of a roof-top garden with odorous padi plots and a padi farm where the visitors can participate in rice planting activities. There is also a restaurant which offers foods and dishes that incorporate rice as the chief ingredient. Other attractions in the museum include an herbal garden, souvenirs and handicrafts shop. The museum also hosts Rice-based food demonstrations, festivals and theme exhibitions.

The museum is open from Monday to Saturday from 10.00 am to 6.oo pm.
