Bako National Park, Sarawak

Wildlife tours in Malaysia are fast gaining popularity amongst the travelers and tourists of the country. The Baku National Park is one of the oldest nature parks of Sarawak. It was built in the year 1957 and is located at the mouth of the Bako and Kuching Rivers. The park can be accessed by a boat ride from Kampung Bako. The park is one of the smallest wildlife parks of the country. It is known for its rainforests, waterfalls, jungles, exotic plants, trees and different kinds of animals and birds. The park also has a jungle trail and walking trails where one can go for a leisure walk when paying a visit to this wonderful wildlife park.


The Bako National Park, Sarawak is known for its fantastic andunique vegetation. One can find Beach vegetation, Cliff vegetation, Kerangas or heath Forest, Mangrove Forest, Mixed Dipterocarp Forest, Padang or Grasslands Vegetation and Peat Swamp Forests in this small yet amazing wildlife park. All this and more makes it the perfect place to go for an eco-tour. Some of the most unique plants that one can find here includes the Pitcher Plants, Sundew and Bladderworts.


The park is also home to different wild animals and birds. The best time to check out the animals in this wildlife park is at dawn and dusk. It is during these times that the animals are most active thereby enabling one to get an excellent view of these wonderful creatures. The park is home to some of the most endangered species of the world, which includes the Proboscis monkeys. Other animals that one can find over here includes long-tailed macaques, silvered Langur, monitor lizards, Bomean bearded pigs, otters and plantain squirrels. Fishing is not allowed inside the park. The Bako National Park, Sarawak is a great place to go for bird watching.


Bako has a total of 16 jungle trails that one can go for. These trails offer walking and hiking options to the tourists. Some of the various trails are Tanjung Sapi, Telok Paku, Telok Delima, Serait, Tajor, Bukit Gondol, Telok Limau, Pulau Lakei, Paya Jelutong and others. These trails are like a full-day jungle hike or overnight camping expeditions, and one can go for any type that they like.


There are numerous forest lodges in Baku National Park, Sarawak where one can stay when going on a wildlife tour to Malaysia. These lodges have bathrooms and are non air-conditioned. Other facilities that are available in the lodges include 24-hour electricity, camping sites, day shelters, lockers, public toilets, canteen, education and information center. One must be careful about the water and boil it before drinking. The Bako National Park, Sarawak is a great place to go for wildlife tours and excursions. It's a truly wonderful experience.
